Joy Black’s Bio
Joy has studied natural healing practices for more than 15 years, traveled to China and Thailand to study more, and transformed her own life in a call to minister to others. Like you, there have been aspects of her life that have needed healing.
She graduated from the School of the Arts at VCU and has been a creative spirit her entire life. Her career of 39 years was mostly spent in high-stress environments – in small businesses, corporations, and several periods of self-employment, so she knows what stress can do to your body, mind and spirit… To your heart, brain, liver, and adrenals… Your sleep, nutrition, energy level, and back… Your morale, attitude, and mental and emotional self. At her lowest point, she experienced only two hours a day in which her mind could focus and her body had enough energy to work.
Joy studied Healing Touch and Reiki to begin to understand her own energies and how to keep them in balance. When she found Qigong, a brilliant light went off, which initiated years of study with Taoist Master Mantak Chia’s senior teachers, including Lili Just Simions – and Master Chia himself – and led her to become a Healing Tao Instructor and a practitioner of Chi Nei Tsang.
Joy has also studied Shen Zhen Gong, the Qigong of Unconditional Love, with founder, Master Li Junfeng, over the past three years. His forms are graceful and lovely, and the moves always follow a poetic concept around life itself, and the world’s tireless need for unconditional love. And she has been immersed over the past two years in a program of study created by Dr. Jerry Alan Johnson about Medical Qigong, one of the four pillars of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
The holistic practices that she offers are the same ones that have given her new life – physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. Joy is honored to share them with you now.
I am happy to offer this workshop with Lili, who was my first Qigong teacher, and the one I credit with showing me this path to deep healing.
Lili Just Simons’s Bio
Has more than 30 years of experience practicing Tai Chi and Qigong.
Lili was born in Denmark. She went to art school in Copenhagen and later through her travels in South East Asia, in her early twenties, she was exposed to Tai Chi and Shiatsu. Upon returning to Denmark she started studying Tai Chi, Shiatsu and reflexology. Traveled to the US in the mid 80`ties to further her Shiatsu studies at the International School of Shiatsu. During her stay she became a student of Taoist Master Mantac Chia and later became a Healing Tao instructor in Tai Chi and Qigong. Over the years she has continued her studies in Chi Nei Tsang, Shiatsu and Life coaching.
Lili is the founder of Shi Ki, which is a healing practice that comes from the heart and works with the energy (chi), based on qigong principles and Chinese medicine. Balancing the meridians creating greater well being in body, mind and spirit.
Lili has been having her private practice and teaching classes over the years living in SD, Chicago and Richmond VA. Recently she moved to upstate NY where she continues her practice.
Lili teaches regularly at the Shiatsu School in Copenhagen.
The body is a gateway to awareness and higher consciousness. Since our body is our teacher and guide in life, awakening to your inner body guidance is the major focus of my work. Knowing and paying attention to the information you body transfers to the mind will help you experience greater awareness in all areas of your life. There is no disconnection between your body and your mind. It is all one, and it is in the integration and awareness of the two that brings healing – being whole.
Happy to be back in Richmond and looking very much forward teaching this class with my dear friend Joy.
